Torbay’s newest car park is opening with a salute to the star of the bay’s airshow.

Bay-based street artist Szabotage, whose murals can also be seen at Preston Sands and Plainmoor among other locations, has painted an image of the Typhoon fighter jet which regularly wows the crowds at the English Riviera Airshow.
The artist’s Typhoon also features beach huts, a palm tree and a pirate, and appears on a blank wall overlooking the new Victoria Square car park.
The car park occupies space left empty by the demolition of part of the Victoria Square shopping centre, which is earmarked for redevelopment as part of a long-term programme of work in the town centre.

The Lidl supermarket has been closed and a large section of the adjoining multi-storey car park has been demolished. Only the Poundstretcher store remains open in the once-busy shopping precinct.
